Saturday, January 18: Treasures of Grand Central

Saturday, January 18: Treasures of Grand Central

Being a New Yorker, you've no doubt raced through this terminal to catch a train once or twice—or a thousand times. But Grand Central Station is more than a place to get from point A to point B. Within this historical landmark lies countless treasures, many of which remain undiscovered to the large majority of passersby.

Special VIP and fellow NYC Urban Sketcher Judy Garza has worked as a tour guide at many icon institutions in the city, including Grand Central, and she's going to share some of these hidden gems with us, before we roll up our sleeves and sketch this iconic space.

DETAILS:

Where:  The Main Concourse at Grand Central Station - Meet by east side of Clock at the Information Booth at the center of the terminal.  The east side of the clock faces the stairs leading up to the Apple Store

When:  Sketching start time: 10 AM
              Judy's tour: 10:30 AM
Running late? Come anyway; we'll be there

Lunch:  Meet at 12:00 PM by the stairs leading up to the Apple Store. You can bring your own food or purchase a bite from the many vendors downstairs

Afternoon 1:00 PM : Back to the Concourse to continue sketching

Show and Tell:  3:00 PM  Exact location TBD

Notes:
  • Bring a stool if you have one.  Security no longer allows people to sketch sitting on the floor; stools seem to be acceptable
