This picturesque park, partially hidden along the East River, is one of our city's best-concealed secrets. A stroll along the promenade provides beautiful views of the river, the Roosevelt Island Lighthouse, the Triborough Bridge, Randall’s and Wards islands, and, of course, Gracie Mansion, the 18th century mansion that serves as the Mayor's official residence.
Gracie Mansion is the last of the elegant country homes that once lined the East River. It sits in Carl Schurz park, 15.2 acres beautifully designed by Frederick Omstead, with sweeping views of the East River. It's considered NYC's quietest park with beautiful views and gorgeous landscaping.
It’s also considered a wonderful dog park with multiple dog runs, a special treat for sketchers who like a challenge. Test your visual memory skill by trying to draw dogs playing together. Definitely not an activity for perfectionists!
