This SATURDAY, October 15, 2022 we’re going to be
exploring Lincoln Center - the cultural hub of NYC
READ CAREFULLY - There are two locations
There is lots to see, interesting architecture, and lots of people - something for every artist! It’s easy to get to and there are bathrooms and restaurants we can use. Although we’ll spend most of the day at Lincoln Center - we are going to start the sketch at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, which is at the corner of Central Park West and West 65th Street.
The church is famous for the Bach Vespers held every Sunday evening. It is also the host of the yearly Juilliard Concert. And, if our timing is right the church should be illuminated by the morning sunlight. We’ll be there for about an hour and then we’ll walk the block and half to Lincoln Center for the rest of sketch day.
DETAILS
What: We will be sketching in the Lincoln Center area for the entire day. We’re starting at the Holy Trinity Church, and then walking to Lincoln Center
Where: Meet at Central Park West and West 65th Street. The best view of the church will probably be across the street by the park. From there we will be walking to Lincoln Center.
When: Meet at 10 AM. Sleeping late? Come anyway - we’ll be there. We will be sketching the church for approximately one hour and the walking to Lincoln Center at about 11 AM
How:
- By Subway:
- 66th Street - Lincoln Center - #1, 2 train
- 59th Street - Columbus Circle - 1, 2, A, B, C or D trains
(see map below).
Lunch: 12:30 Noon. Bring your own or rely on local vendors. There are many food options in this neighborhood. Our lunch location will be determined on site.
Afternoon: 1:30 PM Back to the sketching
Show and Tell: 3:00 PM - We’ll find a likely spot (probably where we had lunch) to share our work, tell stories and talk about what artists talk about.
