Weekday Sketchers in Sakura Park Wednesday
It is finally here...Cherry Blossom Season!
Come celebrate with us.
For the next few weeks we will be visiting sites around NYC that abound with cherry trees. None could be a better start than Sakura Park in Morningside Heights as its very name mean cherry blossom in Japanese. The park and its name derive from the more than 2,000 cherry trees that were donated to the city of New York by the Committee of Japanese Residents of New York as part of the Hudson-Fulton Celebration in 1909. For more about this, visit the NYC parks web site: https://www.nycgovparks.org/parks/sakura-park/
Located along Riverside Drive across the street from Grant's Tomb and next to Riverside Church, we will have multiple viewpoints to capture the beauty of the trees and the impressive buildings that surround the park.
