DUMBO - the view from the World Trade Center |
Ahh DUMBO...
maybe the coolest neighborhood
in ultra-cool Brooklyn
Dumbo - short for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass is a great neighborhood for sketching. Originally a ferry landing, it was the commuting spot for Brooklynites heading to Manhattan. The area is filled with 19th- and early 20th-century industrial and warehouse buildings, cobblestone streets, and long shadows.

The area is well worth exploring but most would agree that the single most incredible view is found looking to the East River from Washington Street at the corner of Water Street. That's where we will spend the morning sketching.
This spot has become a cultural meme with hundreds of visitors, many film crews snapping the iconic views. We will likely see at least one commercial being filmed and we're likely to find at least one bridal party.
