Weekday Sketchers at Derfner Museum in Rivedale
Let's travel to Riverdale in the Bronx to another hidden treasure in NYC: a hospital that believes art is part of the healing process for their patients. The Derfner Museum and Sculpture Grounds is housed in the Hebrew Home for the Aged, a rehabilitation and elder care facility on the banks of the Hudson River. Through a confluence of events and philosophy the Derfner museum has become a treasure house of traditional Judaic artifacts and a showplace for current art and sculpture, especially from Easter Europe.
Keeping with our theme this summer of capturing views along the Hudson River, join us for a day of sketching in the sculpture garden (good weather is predicted), viewing the current exhibition and enjoying lunch on the premises.
