Weekday Sketchers at Chaim Gross Foundation
NYC was the epicenter of the Modern Art Movement in America. How fortunate we are to have a living resource of the era remaining in the heart of Greenwich Village: The Chaim Gross Foundation.
Chaim Gross was a mid-century modern sculpture and watercolorist. His home and studio house his workshop with many of his works on display, his private apartment with his global art collection and an exhibit space. We will be able to visit and work throughout the building. While there take note of the collection of African artifacts and his personal collection from other artist of the period including Willem De Kooning, Milton Avery, Jacob Lawrence and Marsden Harley to name a few, that hang in his apartment and line the stairwell.
